5 Steps to a Healthier You by the New Year:
It is time we take action and improve ourselves as soon as possible instead of waiting around to make a new year’s resolution. The following list is 5 things that I myself will be doing to improve my health and stay in shape.
1.)Wheat Grass: Wheat Grass contains at least 13 vitamins (several are antioxidants), including B12. Chlorophyll, Selenium and laetrile are also found in wheat grass which prevents cancer, diabetes, and heart disease due to its curative properties. You can find all 20 amino acids in Wheat Grass as well a large variety of minerals and enzymes. Wheat grass is wonderful for detoxification, it can improve your digestive system and over all promotes a general well being. You can find wheat grass at your local juice bar or health food store. I personally make a stop every morning to the little medicine man up the street at the health food store. He cuts the grass right there, juices it, and gives me a fresh shot of wheat grass every morning, it’s a wonderful way to start the day!
2.)Flax Seed: Known for its high level of O-mega three fatty acids and fiber, flax seed is another thing I make sure to include in my diet. Add a tablespoon of flax seed to your cereal, yogurt or oatmeal in the morning.
3.)Physical fitness: For most of us, it is hard to find time for physical fitness in our busy schedules, but the answer is, MAKE TIME. Even if it is only for 20 minutes a day, make time for stretching and exercising to get the blood flowing! I personally run four days a week but not more than this because it is bad for your knees. On the other days I do a lot of yoga, Pilates and dancing. I usually make time before I start my day in the morning, or in the evening after my day is complete.
4.)DETOX: At the moment, I am in the process of detoxing my body for 7 days of all the unnecessary elements, and toxins it contains. It is important to occasionally clean out, and cleanse your body and you feel wonderful when you’re finished! I’ve cut out my morning cup of coffee, I’m eating strictly organic fruits and vegetables, and am limiting my drinks to water, wheat grass, and decaffeinated green tea. I’ve eased into the week slowly by allowing a small amount of soy protein shake for the first three days in order to help my body adjust.
5.)Smaller, Healthier portions: Your stomach is very elastic and can shrink and expand depending on your food intake. You may have to be disciplined in the beginning, but cut back on your portions and with in two weeks you’ll shrink your stomach and feel full much faster. With this in mind, it is also important to eat the right things, which we all know. Here’s a couple facts to keep in mind: The man who invented Splenda, does not allow his daughter to use it, trans fat is an immediate NO, fast food all comes in a box when delivered to the restaurant and nothing is sanitary there, if nothing else salt makes you bloat, the difference between regular and whole wheat pasta is HUGE but it tastes just as delicious, ever try counting your calories for the day? Why don’t you find out just how many you intake…
There you have it! Five ways to a healthier you!!!
I’ll keep you posted on how I feel when my detox is finished this upcoming Wednesday, until then, stay healthy and happy!
